FitForce provides one-to-one personal training for children aged 6 to 12 and teenagers aged 13 to 17 in Dubai, at home, in a compound's shared space or at a nearby park. Children's sessions last 45 minutes and focus on coordination and confidence; teen sessions last 45 to 60 minutes and add strength and conditioning. Every child starts with a free first session, and a parent is always welcome to stay.

Why parents in Dubai hire a personal trainer for kids and teens

Children used to get their physical development almost by accident — running around outside, climbing things, playing games nobody organised. Between screens, homework and a climate that keeps everyone indoors half the year, a lot of that has quietly disappeared.

The consequence shows up in ways parents notice without connecting them: poor posture from hunching over a tablet, clumsiness that should have been outgrown, tiring quickly during PE, or simply avoiding physical activity because it feels like something they are bad at. None of these are talent problems. They are practice problems.

Physically, this is also the most awkward window. Growth spurts temporarily wreck coordination — limbs get longer faster than the nervous system adapts, which is why a previously capable fourteen-year-old suddenly looks clumsy. It passes, but training through it sensibly speeds up the adjustment rather than slowing it down.

The recommendation from the CDC's physical activity guidelines for children is 60 minutes of activity a day. Very few children in Dubai get near that without something structured in the week.

What sessions look like at each age

Sessions change with age, attention span and growth. These are the broad stages; your coach adapts them to your child.

Age Session Focus Load
6–7 45 minutes, almost entirely play Running, jumping, balancing, changing direction Bodyweight only
8–10 45 minutes, more structure Coordination, agility, body awareness Simple bodyweight strength
11–12 45 minutes Squat, hinge, push and pull taught correctly Bodyweight or very light resistance
13–17 45 to 60 minutes Strength, conditioning, sport-specific work Light, progressed only when technique is right

Children and teenagers never lift heavy at FitForce; technique comes before load at every age.

How we coach children and teenagers

Not a small version of an adult workout.

The thing parents most often worry about. There are no heavy weights, no exhausting circuits, and nobody is being shouted at.

Games with a purpose.

Agility ladders, cone drills, bear crawls, balance challenges, relay races — activities a child experiences as fun while their coach deliberately develops coordination, reaction speed and body control.

Strength comes in through play.

Bodyweight strength arrives through things like planks and step-ups, scaled to the child's level — never heavy loads.

Self-consciousness peaks now.

A gym floor or a group class is exactly the environment where a teenager who is unsure of themselves decides they would rather not.

And it backs off when school flattens them.

A lighter week when exams or deadlines hit is part of the plan — something no class can offer.

Is strength training safe for children and teenagers?

Is strength training safe for children? Yes, when it is supervised and appropriately loaded, and the belief that it stunts growth has been repeatedly examined and not supported. What actually causes injury in young people is unsupervised lifting, poor technique, and doing too much too soon — which is exactly what happens when a child copies something from a video.

Our coaches work at bodyweight or very light resistance until well into the teenage years, and prioritise technique over load throughout. Growth plates, coordination development and attention span all shape how sessions are built. The bigger risk for most children is the opposite one — inactivity does more measurable harm at this age than sensible training ever will.

Is strength training safe for teenagers? Yes, supervised and correctly loaded, and the belief that it stunts growth has been examined repeatedly without being supported. Guidance on promoting youth fitness from Nationwide Children's Hospital reflects the same position. What causes injury in this age group is specific and predictable — lifting without supervision, copying technique from a video, chasing a number before the movement is right, and training the same thing every day. Our coaches prioritise technique over load throughout. The load can always come later; a rushed pattern is harder to unpick.

What improves, and how quickly?

Confidence usually moves first, often within three or four sessions, and it is the change parents comment on most. A child who has decided they are unsporty starts revising that opinion quickly once they can do something they could not do last week.

Coordination and agility follow over a couple of months. Children learn movement patterns considerably faster than adults do, largely because they do not overthink them.

Strength moves fast at this age, faster than it ever will again, and teenagers who train consistently usually see clear progress within six to eight weeks. Coordination improves alongside it, which is often more noticeable to a parent than to them.

What takes longer is consistency. Teenagers are busy, tired, and pulled in several directions, and a programme that assumes otherwise falls apart by week three. Two sessions a week that actually happen beat four that do not.

Where sessions take place in Dubai

Coaches travel to you, and family villa communities are where most of this happens: Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim and Dubai Hills among them. Sessions run at home, in a compound's shared space or at a park when the weather allows, after school or at the weekend.

Frequently asked questions

Six is the usual minimum for structured one-to-one sessions; younger than that, unstructured play does the job better. Teenagers from 13 to 17 follow the teen version of the programme.
